Once The Book Is Written, Then What?

Writing a book is a huge undertaking. And when the writing is done, there is a massive relief.

The book is not finished.

I have seen friends and clients get too excited here and mess up the launch of their book. They had an amazing book, a real opportunity to make an impact, and then they rushed the end.

It takes patience and continued focus to keep going with the marathon of getting the book ready for release.

Technology makes it easier to publish. There are different opportunities to put your book in front of people. These days there is no publisher, in that traditional sense. You don’t need one to get your book out. This opportunity also means there’s more responsibility on you.

Publishers had many in house hands working on a book before it launched. It’s up to you now to invest in these skills and talents. The marketing branch is perhaps the most obvious one. But there are others. Proofreaders, cover design, lay out, and many more, are all skills that make a book look professional.

They are easy to find on LinkedIn. Over the last two years I’ve developed a network to be able to recommend these people to my clients depending on the genre and the focus of the book. I’m happy to send suggestions for all of these – send me a message.

You really only get one chance to launch your book. Don’t rush the end and squander the opportunity.
